FilmGate design work by Maia Pineiro

FilmGate Interactive, 2016

FilmGate is a non-profit film organization in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District of Miami, FL. During my time at FilmGate I started as Graphic Design Intern and eventually became the sole Designer for the organization. I was responsible for every graphic and visual image needed for promotions and announcements.

With FilmGate being a fairly new organization, we developed and produced a general promotional postcard (Front and Back). This was printed and distributed all over Miami with the goal of generating awareness and interest amongst the community.

One of the most challenging projects for me included designing my very first printed banner. I especially enjoyed playing around with the visual elements, making some light geometric illustrations that although were not as apparent from afar once the viewer got close to the banner they discovered more visually pleasing interactions that did not necessarily distract from the content. This banner displayed at various FilmGate events including the monthly film festival I'm Not Gonna Move to LA (NOLA), STORYCODE Miami, as well as various film related workshops.

Another exiting project I worked on at FilmGate is a logo for the monthly film festival called NOLA (I’m Not Gonna Move to L.A). Through various brainstorming sessions with the team I came up with this new logo for the festival.

In addition to all these projects I also created many digital images that were sent through the email newsletters, posted on the FilmGate website, or displayed through a projector at events.
